It’s Time for Some Needed Truth

A sizable part of the nation has lost its mind.

In 2016, democrats ran possibly the worst candidate in their history against a republican that nobody but his most ardent followers (at first) really believed could win. I could waste a lot of time here about exactly why Hillary Clinton was such a bad candidate, but that’s enough meat for a whole other post by itself.....and maybe I’ll tackle it some day if I ever feel like pawing through history’s dustbin.

I could just as easily devote a few thousand words to why Donald Trump won the election, but again, that is an analysis that would derail my current thought....and maybe I’ll tackle it some day when I feel like writing about why the nation’s ignorati were so far off the mark.

The fact is, whether or not one likes it, Donald Trump IS our president for at least the next 3 years......7 years if he keeps winning like he’s doing now.

Disclaimer right up front. Did I vote for Donald Trump over Hillary Clinton? Yes, I did....although it was with some misgivings. What were those misgivings? They were primarily that I find him to be a loud and crude person with an atrocious sense of decor. No, I am not a nancy-boy. It’s just that my personal tastes run to the rustic craftsman rather than the Saddam-esque. Trump‘s idea of beautiful architecture and decor is closer to Saddam Hussein’s. ALERT in case there are any idiots reading this: I am NOT comparing Trump to Saddam Hussein. I am merely saying that they both seem to have the same sort of preference for gaudy, overstated, gold plated arabesque in both architecture and decor. It’s not a moral question, it’s merely one of esthetics. Yes, there is a market for that kind of stuff, but it has no appeal to me. Similarly, his loud and somewhat crude New Yorker personal style clashes with my own personal style - which is lower key, less profane in use of language (unless circumstances seem to call for it), and more generally “southern”. But these are personality issues that have nothing at all to do with good governance. Barack Obama cultivated an extremely hip and affable style, and yet he was without a doubt the worst president we’ve ever had - worse even than Jimmy Carter. I’m sure that Obama is a friendly guy over beers at a BBQ, but he’s a policy idiot, and a liar from the get-go. If you want to challenge that, don’t make me bring up Obamacare.

So why did I vote for Trump? Because sadly, he was the best option......which says something about the general intellectual bankruptcy of the nation, that the GOP couldn’t produce a “traditional” republican for the general election that wasn’t a weenie and had his policy act together. Although I am a registered independent with libertarian leanings, I thought it important to beat Clinton and keep the office out of her reach. Period. I would have voted for Mickey Mouse over Clinton, but the Mickster wasn’t running. The point is that I am an independent thinker, and not a tool of the GOP, the DNC, or any other party. That makes me a far better qualified analyst of the national loss of sanity than any party member who marches in lock step with ideology. So with that out of the way......

The insanity I have seen from both the left AND from people who claim to be on the right, regarding Donald Trump’s fitness for office, is unlike anything ever seen in the annals of American history. It’s not by any means the first time people have slung mud at one another. During the campaign of 1800 for POTUS, Thomas Jefferson called John Adams a "hideous hermaphroditical character, which has neither the force and firmness of a man, nor the gentleness and sensibility of a woman." Adams‘s people replied that Jefferson was "a mean-spirited, low-lived fellow, the son of a half-breed Indian squaw, sired by a Virginia mulatto father." .......whatever it takes to get elected, we would say today. But once the election ended, so did the calumny. And sure, democrats opined that Reagan was either senile, or such a simpleton that he was a puppet whose strings were being yanked by dark forces behind the throne. They tried the same bullshit with George W. Bush - painting him as a simpleton...... nevermind that their candidate in 2004 (John Kerry) could not match Bush’s GPA at Yale, where they were contemporaries. And if the ability to communicate with The People is a mark of intelligence, the closest thing to a “great communicator” the democrats have had has been Barack Obama - except that most of his communications were outright falsehoods; and on the unpleasant things in his background - both his alleged immigration status and GPA while at Occidental College, for instance - there was ZERO communication. For all of his being a sometimes clumsy speaker, George Bush’s background was an open book, with nothing to hide. In fact, a formerly respected newsman like Dan Rather had to pull an invented scandal out of his ass - unsuccessfully, it turns out - to try and torpedo Bush’s candidacy. SINCE WHEN IS IT A JOURNALIST’S JOB TO TORPEDO CANDIDATES THEY DON’T LIKE? Since NEVER, that’s when. Justice was served however by the faux scandal ending Rather’s career. What a crappy way to go. Maybe if he had just tried journalism instead of advocacy, he’d still be regarded as one of the elder statesmen of the craft. Instead, today he is mocked as a “here’s what NOT to do”.

But the intensity and crapulence of the Democrat Steno Pool (AKA “the media”)’s obsession with Donald Trump’s fitness for office is about as small-minded as those conservative tabloids who were fixated on the details of Bill Clinton’s piebald penis during the Lewinsky Humidor scandal. It’s outrageous! What does ANY of this crap have to do with GOVERNANCE? The false outrage over his locker room banter from a decade before has reached the point where even ex-republicans I know (I call them “ex” because they now walk and talk like democrats) speculate about whether or not Trump is raping women in the Oval Office. REALLY? ......THIS is what your thought processes have come to?

Twenty years ago TODAY, Matt Drudge broke the Lewinsky Humidor story, and not just that story, but the overlayed fact that a major news outlet was spiking the story. Here’s a fair question: if the sitting POTUS at that time had been George Bush instead of Bill Clinton, would Newsweek have spiked the story? I think we can safely go with “hell no!” The nation’s Fourth Estate - the media - has so completely whored its soul to the democrat party that it is fair to say that most reporters, especially political reporters, are DNC operatives with press passes. To put it in the kind of language Trump would use, they wouldn’t know journalistic objectivity if it bit them on the dick. Case in point? Jim Acosta, at CNN, who doesn’t ask questions but instead issues statements and dares the White House to contradict him. It makes for good TV, but lousy news reporting. Whenever he’s involved, the story isn’t the story, Jim Acosta is the story.

Nate Jackson at the Patriot Post has written an excellent article about this media obsession with Trump’s health, and just how devastatingly stupid it is. Quoting from the article:

For some time now, Democrats and their media allies have obsessed about the president’s health — particularly his mental fitness — largely as 25th Amendment groundwork for their pathetic impeachment campaign. So the report given Tuesday by the White House’s lead physician, Navy Rear Admiral Ronny Jackson, deflated their hopes:

In summary, the president’s overall health is excellent. His cardiac performance during his physical exam was very good. … We discussed diet, exercise and weight loss. He would benefit from a diet that is lower in fat and carbohydrates and from a routine exercise regimen. … All clinical data indicates that the president is currently very healthy and that he will remain so for the duration of his presidency.

Jackson has spent a lot of time with Trump, and his report certainly calls into question all the baloney from author Michael Wolff and his book, Fire and Fury. “The guy can’t go put one coherent sentence after another,” Wolff insists. “He’s off. He can’t stay on subject. He can’t stay on point.” News outlets likewise have featured psychiatrists “diagnosing” Trump despite never having even met him. That got so bad the American Psychiatric Association told shrinks to knock it off with violating the “Goldwater Rule” — questioning from afar the mental state of a public figure.

In fact, due to the Left’s incessant questions, Trump insisted that he also take some sort of cognitive test, so Jackson complied, though he noted it was the first time a sitting president had undergone such a test. Trump scored a perfect 30 out of 30 on the very extensive Montreal Cognitive Assessment. Jackson noted, “If he had some type of mental, cognitive issue … this test is sensitive enough. It would pick up on it. He would not have gotten 30 out of 30 on the test. So I’m very confident at this particular stage that he has nothing like that going on.”

With a wink and a smirk, we might even concede that Trump is, as he called himself, a “very stable genius.”

Not so with the Leftmedia. Their utterly inane questions were something to behold. Questions ranged from asking about Trump’s love of fast food, Diet Coke and ice cream to wondering if he’d publicly step on a scale to prove he weighed 239 pounds. The obsession will continue. 

Oh, and by the way, Jackson was also Barack Obama’s personal physician, and, as you recall, Obama refused to release some of his medical records…

It’s not enough that the same doctor who did Obama’s health reports gave Trump a clean bill of health, INCLUDING a cognitive test to which no previous president has been subjected but to which Trump insisted be done to him. No. In its frenzy, the media have been hiring psychiatrists to diagnose Trump from afar, and it has gotten so bad that the APA - hardly a right wing organization - has issued a statement telling psychiatrists to stop it. This is insane. It is crazy when the body that governs the professional behavior of psychiatrists has to issue a statement to its members telling them to start acting like PSYCHIATRISTS, and not celebrity news icons.

This is the media which feeds our national insanity. They would rather reach for straws that might support their foregone conclusions, than to simply report the facts. And they are leading people who have lost their way into agreeing with this kind of crapulence. A long time friend of mine accused me the other day of being “obsessed with fake news“ and said that she wished I would stop because “you’re smarter than that”. if backhanded compliments ever worked on me...... Three years ago, she was absolutely on board with the fact of fake news. Today, she thinks that fake news is itself a fake issue, because she cannot imagine that all the negative media reporting about Trump isn‘t true. She hates him so much that she has lost sight of her horizon.

This crap has consequences. Article after article, written by liberal reporters who are honest brokers, have warned the rest of their media brethren that THEY are the reason Trump won. You can only insult the sensibilities of half the population for so long, and then that half will automatically do/say/believe the exact opposite of what you do/say/believe. Why? Because they will realize...indeed HAVE realized....that if you won’t report the truth, won’t report impartially so that they can decide for themselves, and if you insist on being a propagandist, they will simply cut you out of the loop. They will in fact vote for a Trump - even if he’s not their ideal choice - because it’s become time to burn this mother to the ground, and somebody has to throw the first match.

These 25th Amendment pipe dreams may be well received by left-media‘s fellow travelers, but what it communicates to the rest of the country is “we will not let you win an election, no matter how lawfully it was won. That is what’s behind more than a year of absolutely fruitless “Russia investigation”. These tactics say nothing more than, “we do NOT believe in the Constitutional transition of power, and we will take your win away from you. We will disenfranchise you.” And then add in Google’s evil suppression of conservative websites, and Facebook’s and Twitter’s suppression of conservative content, is it any wonder that the right becomes so alienated that it gives the left the middle finger and votes in Trump?

If the left-media (but I repeat myself) continues along this line, does it seriously think that conservatives will not reelect Donald Trump? When joblessness is down and the stock market is up? When employers are now giving out bonuses again? When healthcare costs are coming down? When they are no longer beaten into accepting the legislative abortion of Obamacare by the hammer of taxation? When their income taxes have been reduced? Seriously? They seriously believe that voters are going to vote against MORE of this?

How long before the rest of the nation gets it’s mental faculties back on line?
